NYSCA PS15M

Urban school infrastructure managed under CPM scheduling to avoid construction delays.

Project Description

This project at P.S. 15M in Manhattan involved significant upgrades to the school’s boiler and climate control systems, along with extensive demolition, abatement of hazardous materials, and various architectural, plumbing, and electrical renovations. The work included the removal of existing concrete pads, boiler room louvers, non-rated doors and frames, and non-code-compliant steel stairs, followed by the installation of new fire-rated doors and frames. Plumbing work focused on a new gas service, a gas-fired water heater, new floor and area drains, and a duplex sump pump. Mechanically, the project involved the demolition of existing boilers and associated systems, replaced by new gas-fired boilers with modern controls, as well as the installation of a new gas leak detection system, water treatment system, flue stack, and modernized thermostats. Electrically, the project encompassed the removal of existing motor starters and power panels, and the installation of new boiler power panels, branch circuiting for new equipment, a lightning protection system, and modifications to the intrusion alarm system.
