NYCT A-36770 Flood Mitigation/Resiliency at 7 Stations & Adjacent Tunnels, and 1 Fan Plant

Project Description

This project focused on flood mitigation and resiliency improvements across seven New York City Transit Authority stations and adjacent tunnels, plus one fan plant, located in Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, and Roosevelt Island. The general scope of work specifically included providing flood protection solutions for street-level flood vulnerabilities at structures within Category 2 slosh extents, with a design flood elevation equal to Category 2 slosh elevation plus 3 feet. This involved protecting station entrances, existing NYCT ventilation bays, existing NYCT manholes, and existing NYCT hatches (including emergency exits, equipment, and personnel hatches) with watertight solutions such as deployable watertight pedestrian flood doors and frames in specified critical rooms. Additionally, conduits entering critical rooms were mitigated.
